Chocolate Dirt Pudding Dessert (Printable Version)

Creamy chocolate pudding layered with crushed cookies and gummy worms for a fun no-bake treat.

# What You Need:

→ Pudding Layer

01 - 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
02 - 2 cups cold milk
03 - 1 cup whipped topping, thawed

→ Cookie Dirt

04 - 18 chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed

→ Decorations

05 - 12 gummy worms

# How to Make It:

01 - Whisk together instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk in a large mixing bowl for 2 minutes until mixture thickens considerably.
02 - Gently fold whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully incorporated and smooth, taking care not to deflate the mixture.
03 - Crush chocolate sandwich cookies using a food processor or place in a zip-top bag and roll with a rolling pin until fine crumbs resemble dirt texture.
04 - Spoon a layer of cookie crumbs into the bottom of 6 serving cups or jars. Add a layer of chocolate pudding mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with a generous topping of cookie crumbs to completely cover the pudding.
05 - Decorate each cup with 2 gummy worms, positioning them so they emerge from the dirt for a playful crawling effect.
06 - Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and achieve optimal texture before serving.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It's the perfect dessert to make with kids because crushing cookies into dirt is weirdly therapeutic for everyone involved
  • The no-bake situation means you can assemble it in your actual clothes without worrying about flour explosions
02 -
  • The first time I made these, I didn't chill them long enough and the layers sort of melted into each other which still tasted fine but looked like a mudslide incident
  • Clear cups make this about ten times more fun because you can see all the strata like a delicious archaeological dig
03 -
  • A food processor gives you that fine dirt texture but kids definitely prefer the rolling pin method because it's loud and destructive
  • Wipe the rims of your cups after assembly because chocolate pudding on the glass makes everything look messy in photos
